The 2-ingredient whiskey cocktail you'll reach for when you're craving a smoky, citrusy cocktail to sip on. It couldn't be easier to feel like a political historian with this drink in your hand.
The History
"Ward 8" is a classic whiskey-based cocktail invented in Boston in the late 1890s. Typically made with whiskey, lemon juice, orange juice, and grenadine, it's named after the Ward 8 voting district that delivered the winning margin, securing political czar Martin Lomasney a seat in the state legislature.
Make It
Time to prepare: 2 minutes
- 1 part Nkd Whiskey
- 1 part Blind Tiger Ward 8
- Orange twist (optional)
- Rosemary (optional)
Add Nkd Whiskey and Blind Tiger Ward 8 to an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist, speared onto a charred rosemary sprig if you'd like.
Add a Massachusetts flag for a period correct garnish. It makes it even bettah.
