NØLO Recipe: Smoldering Cherry
May 08, 2026
This smoky-sour cherry sip is adapted from Monday’s original Smoldering Cherry recipe. It’s bright, tart, lightly sweet, and has just enough smoke to make it qualify as a proper grown-up drank ... without overcomplicating your shopping list.
The History
No dusty cocktail lore here. This one comes to us from Monday, makers of one of our favorite zero-proof mezcals. Their Smoldering Cherry recipe layers lime, citrus, agave, cherry, and orange bitters over smoky non-alcoholic mezcal for a drink that feels bold but mixes easy enough for the lazy barkeeps out there.
Our NØLO tweak: use the citrus juice you love! We think a 1/2 orange and 1/2 grapefruit citrus juice blend is juuuuust right - you get the brightness of orange and the bite of grapefruit without making the recipe too fussy. But you do you!
Make It
- 2 oz Monday Non-Alcoholic Mezcal
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1/2 oz fresh citrus juice (we like 1/4 oz fresh orange juice + 1/4 oz fresh grapefruit juice)
- 1/4 oz agave syrup
- 1 barspoon cherry juice
- 2 dashes All The Bitter Orange Bitters
< 0.5% ABV | Rim a rocks glass with salt and add fresh ice.
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until cold. Strain into your salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice. Top with fresh lime zest.
Sip with smoke.
