NØLO Recipe: The City That Sleeps

Complex and warming, with functionals (ashwagandha, valerian, turmeric, and lemon balm) to support a gentle wind-down. A cocktail that brings customer favorites together in a novel and layered way. Definitely a drink to savor, sipping on this one lets the complexity shine.

The History

This recipe comes from our friends at All the Bitter, co-owned by Carly and Ian, who met when as sommeliers at The French Laundry. When they started a family, they decided alcohol wasn't a part of their lives that made sense. But great-tasting drinks were still in the mix.

They began crafting at-home non-alc cocktails and realized it was harder to find non-alcoholic bitters, so they set out to make their own. Fast forward, and All the Bitter is on our shelves and used in top bars and restaurants around the world.

Manhattan-like, but not on the nose. A traditional Manhattan made with non-alcoholic whiskey and vermouth alone risks falling flat, but Three Spirits Nightcap's warm woody botanicals add depth and body. The bitters bring balance and complexity. This is a manly drink made for serious nightcapping.

Make It

Time to prepare: 5 minutes

Chill all spirits to prevent dilution. Combine pre-chilled spirits with bitters in a mixing glass, stir to blend, pour into chilled coupe glass.  Garnish with a cocktail cherry and orange twist.

Note: This cocktail contains ashwagandha, which should be avoided during pregnancy.

This nightcap may find you perusing leather-bound books in your well-appointed library while a fire roars in the fireplace.
