NØLO Recipe: The Boulevardier
Mar 21, 2025
We most certainly didn't come up with this classic recipe. But we love us a Boulevardier. It's got all the boxes ticked: cool origin story, great flavor, and (BEST OF ALL) three easy ingredients.
The History
The Boulevardier is the warming cousin of the classic Negroni. It was first found included in the 1927 french cocktail book "Barflies and Cocktails", where American-born writer Erskine Gwynne is cited as its creator. The next time The Boulevardier recipe is found in print was 2007. Since then, the cocktail has been added to many a lazy barkeeps' list of go-to recipes.
Our boulevardier cocktail is comprised of equal parts booze-free whiskey, sweet vermouth, and campari-esque bitter apéritif.
Make It
- 1 part Free Spirits Bourbon (or your favorite non-alcoholic whiskey)
- 1 part Free Spirits Milano (or your favorite non-alcoholic apéritif)
- 1 Part Free Spirits Vermouth Rosso (or your favorite sweet vermouth)
Pour over 1 large ice cube in a rocks glass. Stir. Garnish with a cherry or orange twist. Give yourself a high five and dream of spring.
